One Way A Toilet Can Leak

One way a toilet can leak is by the toilet flapper that fails to seal. If water from the tank leaks around the flapper and into the bowl the flapper is faulty and needs replacing. How to test for a leaking flapper is a simple test. So watch the video or follow my step by step guide.

To repair the flapper, first switch off the water supply valve underneath of the toilet (or the main supply if the valve leaks!). Flush the toilet to empty out most of the water and unhook the original flapper. Purchase a new flapper of the same type and install it as per the instructions on the package. Hook the flapper chain onto the flush lever arm so there’s a tiny bit of slack when the flapper is closed. If you have too  much slack in the chain by the time you turn the handle the flapper wont lift off the seat.
In the case that the flapper doesn’t leak and the water still runs inspect the fill tube linked with the overflow pipe
